In March, we started to see some expected trends come to fruition. Now that we’re officially in the thick of Prom Season, the Top Ten chart belongs exclusively to Grey Tuxedos and Suits, Classic Black Tuxedos, and Brown Tuxedos and Suits, in that order. A few notable changes:
- The top spot, which had been occupied by the Classic Black ‘Chaplin I’ Tuxedo by After Six has now been taken over by the Jean Yves Steel Grey ‘Twilight’ Tuxedo, echoing our predictions about the popularity of grey tuxedos during prom season.
- The Jean Yves Chocolate ‘Premier’ Tuxedo holds its own in the 6th position, while the Jean Yves Tan ‘Rapture’ Destination Suit nestles in at #9. These two accurately represent the popularity of brown tuxedos and suits during prom season this year. While they still are among the most popular tuxedos rented for the season, they are not as popular as grey tuxedos or classic black tuxedos. By trending back data, we can see that, while brown tuxedos and suits are strong and will be for a long time, they are not as popular as they were a couple of years ago.
- The brand new PM Black ‘Icon’ Tuxedo is already taking a spot on the Top Ten chart and is letting us know that it’s going to make a big splash on the scene, and maybe even break a few hearts. While the ‘Icon’ Tuxedo is still very new, its classic style is anything but. Even this early on, we can clearly see that it has considerable timeless appeal that crosses generations and demographics. We expect good things here.
